Privacy Policy

This policy explains what information On-Kyu collects, why, and what you can do about it. It covers this website (on-kyu.com) and the On-Kyu app (app.on-kyu.com).

The short version. On-Kyu never records who plays. Your sessions and player names stay on your device. We count how the app is used, without any names, so we can make it better. You can turn that off.

Who we are

On-Kyu is a tool for pickleball open-play organisers. It’s run by AppLikha Labs, the personal information controller for the data described in this policy.

This website

This website doesn’t set cookies, and it doesn’t ask you for any information.

• Visit counts. We use Cloudflare Web Analytics to count visits. It doesn’t use cookies and doesn’t identify you.
• Hosting. Cloudflare hosts this site. To deliver and protect it, Cloudflare processes your internet (IP) address and basic information about your browser.

The app: what you enter

To run a session, an organiser enters a session name, court names and player names. The app then records games, results and times.

All of this is stored only in your browser, on the device you use. It isn’t sent to us, and we can’t see it.

• A session ends automatically 12 hours after it starts.
• Ended sessions stay on your device for 30 days. After that, the app deletes them.
• Clearing your browser’s data deletes them sooner. We can’t recover them, because we never have a copy.

The app itself is delivered by Firebase Hosting, a Google service, which processes your internet address to send the app to your browser.

The app: usage analytics

On-Kyu counts how the app is used so we can make it better.

What we collect. How many players and courts a session has, how long games and sessions run, which features are used, which screens are opened, errors, and how fast the app loads. Each session is labelled with a scrambled code, so its events can be grouped without knowing which session it was. We also see your browser type and screen size.

What we never collect. Player names, session names, court names, or the links to your sessions.

Who processes it. Google Analytics, on our behalf. Google sets a cookie that tells your browser apart from others. It uses your internet address to estimate your city, and doesn’t store the address.

How long we keep it. 14 months.

How to turn it off. In the app, open Settings (the gear on the home page), then under Privacy, turn off Share usage data. It stays off in that browser, and nothing more is sent.

Players

Players don’t use On-Kyu. Their organiser enters their names to run the queue. Those names stay on the organiser’s device and are never sent to us, so we can’t see, change or delete them.

If you’re a player and want your name removed, ask your organiser. Ended sessions are deleted from their device after 30 days. You can also contact us, and we’ll help where we can.

Why we use this data

Under the Data Privacy Act of 2012 (Republic Act No. 10173), we rely on our legitimate interest (Section 12(f)):

• Usage analytics: to keep On-Kyu working and to improve it. You can object at any time by turning it off.
• Hosting and security: to deliver this website and the app safely.

Who we share it with

We don’t sell personal data. We share it only with the service providers named above, Cloudflare and Google, to run On-Kyu, or when the law requires it. These providers may process data outside the Philippines, under their own security and privacy commitments.

Your rights

Under the Data Privacy Act, you have the right to:

• be informed about how your personal data is processed,
• access it,
• object to its processing,
• have it corrected,
• have it erased or blocked,
• get a copy in a portable format,
• be compensated for damages caused by its misuse, and
• file a complaint with the National Privacy Commission.

We don’t hold names, so we usually can’t match analytics data to a person. It’s tied to a browser cookie that we can’t see from an email. The quickest way to stop it is the setting in the app. For anything else, email us.

Children

On-Kyu is made for organisers. It isn’t meant for children to use on their own.

Changes to this policy

When we change this policy, we update the date at the top. If a change affects how we use your data, for example when we add cloud sync, we’ll tell you in the app before it takes effect.
